Belleville neighborhood to discuss sewer project

News-DemocratMarch 10, 2014

— Residents interested in learning more about an upcoming sewer project in Belleville are invited to attend a meeting Wednesday.

The Kansas Avenue Neighborhood Watch will meet at 7 p.m. at Jefferson School, 1400 N. Charles St. in Belleville.

Guest speakers Royce Carlisle and Randy Smith, from the city's wastewater treatment plant, will provide a project overview, timeline and maps.

A holding tank will be placed near the intersection of East Belle Avenue and Scheel Street. The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency mandated the city use the holding tank instead of pumping rain water into ditches.

The City Council will vote on a bid for the project this month.

For more information, contact Neighborhood Watch President Lillian Schneider at 234-7569. Schneider also is a Belleville alderwoman.
