— A new barbecue restaurant will open in downtown Belleville on Friday.

Rocket Pig Bar-B-Que will occupy 124 E. Main St., which was most recently home to Acropolis, a Greek restaurant.

For now, the restaurant will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., or when items sell out, according to co-owner Scott Muir.

Muir said he and Greg Hinrichs will consider extending business hours in the future.

Hinrichs is a chiropractor with Back 2 Health in Belleville.

The menu boasts that diners "won't find better BBQ 'til pigs fly," and tells patrons to ask about the chocolate-covered bacon.

Other menu items include ribs, pulled pork, brisket, pit-smoked beans, German-style potato salad and more.
