Fire destroys two buildings

Firefighters from Mascoutah and Freeburg were extinguishing hot spots late Tuesday afternoon after two structures caught fire in the 7000 block of Reinnick Road near Mascoutah.

According to Mascoutah Fire Chief Joe Zinck, no injuries were reported.

Both structures were completely destroyed. One appeared to be an empty garage, and the other building was full of small engine equipment. The structures were on two different properties neighboring one another.

Mascoutah and Freeburg firefighters had to truck in water to battle the fire from about a half-mile away.

The cause of the fire was not immediately determined.
