Police release name of Belleville man found dead in home

News-DemocratMarch 13, 2014

— Police released the identity of a man found dead at a home at 46 Patricia Lane on Tuesday morning.

Billy Ray Young, 52, was disabled and under the care of relatives who lived in the home, said Belleville Police Detective Sgt. Mark Heffernan.

Young recently moved to the area from Missouri, Heffernan said Thursday.

"There were indicators at the scene that led investigators to believe the deceased was not properly cared for at the residence," Heffernan said on Tuesday.

Police have interviewed the adult residents of the home, Heffernan said.

An autopsy was performed on Wednesday.

Detectives continue their investigation, Heffernan said. Police will present a case to the St. Clair County State Attorney's Office early next week.
