Groundbreaking marks next step for 'Medical Mile' in Shiloh

News-DemocratMarch 14, 2014

A groundbreaking midday Friday marked another step for "The Medical Mile" in Shiloh.

Ground was broken during a ceremony for the Heartland Women's Healthcare building at 1197 Fortune Boulevard.

Heartland Women's Healthcare plan to consolidate existing practices in Belleville and O'Fallon into the new practice at Parkway Sixty Four business park in Shiloh, adjacent to the Green Mount Crossing Shopping Center.

Practice founder Dr. Michael Schifano has said the new site offers the women's health center a prime location where future hospitals and other medical practices plan to develop.

The Heartland building will join Memorial Hospital-East and other planned medical developments along Interstate 64 in the O'Fallon-Shiloh area.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held Sunday for the new Memorial Hospital building in the 1400 block of Cross Street in Shiloh.
