What qualifies you for this position?

I have been a political activist and studied public policy for 35 years. I have opposed our foreign wars and worked for a just peace in the Middle East. I have worked hard, read vastly and written prolifically in an effort to understand how the vast wealth of our nation, produced by the labor of its workers, has been appropriated by a criminal class on Wall Street, in corporate boardrooms, and in Washington. I understand the need for federally funded full employment, Medicare for All, an end to student debt, and an end to the racist war on drugs.

What is the top issue in your race, and how would you address it?

My campaign slogan, a 'New' New Deal, invokes both the New Deal programs that created jobs for millions in the 1930s, and the occupy movement of the 99% with its demand for economic justice. Our children and grandchildren face huge and related threats in terms of climate change, militarism and economic inequality. It is time to face these urgent challenges honestly and squarely with a politics that lives up to the name of the egalitarian ideals of our party, on behalf of the vast majority who learn and labor to create the material wealth and spiritual richness of this nation.
