The current Illinois concealed carry law specifies 23 areas where firearms can't be carried, ranging from day care, schools and courthouses to places prohibited by federal law, which would be all of Scott Air Force Base. Concealed carry permit holders pass a background check to earn this "privilege." Criminals aren't bothered by this technicality. A sign is just a piece of paper or plastic to them.
More than 99 percent of permit holders in other states remain law-abiding. Expect Illinois to continue this trend and support your neighbor's decision if she decides to exercise this right to carry. Do not support Senate Bill 2669.
