Two charged with bank robbery in Columbia

Two Missouri residents have been charged in connection with a bank robbery in Columbia.

Darren E. Everett, 43, and Mackenzie A. Leonard, 28, of Chesterfield, Mo., who were dating at the time, were both charged with bank robbery, U.S. Attorney Stephen Wigginton announced Friday.

The indictment stated that on Feb. 4, 2013, Everett and Leonard robbed Commerce Bank in Columbia of approximately $1,782.

Everett and Leonard are being held without bond, pending trial which is scheduled for May 5, in federal court in East St. Louis. If convicted, they face up to 20 years in prison.

The case was investigated by the Columbia Police Department, the Illinois State Police and the FBI.
