News-DemocratMarch 25, 2014

Sunny skies and rising temperatures Tuesday afternoon will melt the dusting of snow that hit the metro-east Monday night -- five days after the official start of spring.

The afternoon high will reach 40 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Winds will gust up to 26 miles an hour.

Overnight the low will drop to 20. But a warming trend will begin Wednesday when the high will reach 52 under sunny skies.

Showers are expected to begin late Wednesday evening when the low will be 39. On Thursday the forecast calls for a 60 percent chance of thunderstorms and a high of 61.
