The Affordable Care Act Marketplace will close its open enrollment period on March 31, and help is available from the Madison County Health Department.
To enroll in a health plan on the marketplace, individuals may go to healthcare.gov, call the federal hotline at (800) 318-2596, or use an in-person counselor from the health department.
After March 31, residents will not be able to enroll until November unless a qualifying life event takes place, such as marriage, a major income change or the birth of a child. Enrollment for Medicaid the expanded "adult ACA" programs will continue, for people who meet income guidelines.
For example: a single person making less than $16,105 or a family of four making less than $32,913 will qualify. More information about adult ACA can be found at abe.illinois.gov or by calling the health department at 296-6098.
Counselors are available at the health department's offices at 101 E. Edwardsville Road, Wood River from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. Residents who are unsure if they qualify, have specific questions or would like to schedule an appointment should call Kara Hughes at 296-6098 or email email@example.com.
