A house in the 1100 block of 49th Street in Washington Park burned early Wednesday.
It's the fifth structure in the village to catch fire since Sunday.
According to fire department reports, the call came at 1:39 a.m. with a report that a blaze had started in the rear of the building.
Washington Park, which only has one active firefighter because of recent budget cuts that caused the rest of the department's manpower to be laid off, had four fires Sunday. Three of them were in houses that were vacant.
