Police: Man fakes home invasion, stabbing by intruder

— A Collinsville man is accused of faking his own stabbing and home invasion.

Collinsville Police were called to the 5500 block of Sugarloaf Road about 11:40 p.m. Saturday. They found Evan B. Wallace, 25, with a superficial stab wound to the abdomen. Police said Wallace told them his attacker had fled into the woods around the area.

Police from six agencies searched the area, including a K-9 unit and search helicopter from Metro Air Support of St. Louis County, as well as the state police crime scene unit.

However, police said they now believe Wallace fabricated the attack.

Wallace has been charged with disorderly conduct, a Class 4 felony. Bail was set at $40,000. Wallace surrendered, and is now free on bond.
