Better to be proved foolish

March 27, 2014

I would expect that most people who write to a paper feel strongly about their message. This was the case with Lee Pitzer's response to my letter that was published in the BND on March 13.

Yes, I do believe our president plans to stay in office beyond January 2017. This can be accomplished if a state of emergency exists and is declared at the time -- something that is very possible giving the current situation in the world and our country. This is a condition that can be manipulated.

Please keep in mind that I did not say that I hoped we would become a socialist country. I sincerely hope that I prove to be just as foolish as Pitzer says I am.

My concerns are for my country, my children and grandchildren. It will do me no good to be able to say "I told you so." If it gets to that point, it will be too late.
