In response to the story by George Pawlaczyk about prison overtime: Joining the brotherhood allows you to be part of this practice exercised by many -- organized overtime and callouts. The contract usually calls for premium pay when working overtime, premium plus when called out and super premium pay when called out on a holiday.
When an employee calls off and overtime is refused by those working at that time, the company is required to call an employee out. This procedure was so refined an employee could determine when his next callout would be.
I am surprised the state hasn't discovered this pattern of theft, or maybe state officials don't care. The taxpayer will take care of it.
