Swansea may annex 38 acres at Frank Scott Parkway, Sullivan Drive

News-DemocratApril 6, 2014

The Swansea Village Board will have a public hearing Monday about the proposed annexation of about 38 acres where Frank Scott Parkway meets Sullivan Drive/Union Hill Road.

The hearing is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Village Hall, 1400 N. Illinois St. The village committee and board meetings will follow the hearing.

Village leaders are considering an annexation agreement with Swansea Development Trust 7.

If approved, a 22-acre tract at the intersection will get a multi-family residential zoning designation and an adjoining 16-acre tract will be zoned highway business.

The land is part of Fairview Heights and will have to be disconnected before annexation by Swansea.

Also on Monday, Swansea officials will review and discuss the proposed $10.3 million budget for 2014-15.

The board is set to vote on the budget on April 21 after a public hearing that evening.
