A 26-year-old Fairview Heights man will serve 15 months in prison for a firearm offense.

Quinten M. Allen was sentenced Monday in the federal district court in East St. Louis on the charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to U.S. Attorney Stephen R. Wigginton.

Allen knowingly possessed a semiautomatic pistol and ammunition on Feb. 5, 2013, in East St. Louis. Allen had previously been convicted -- in 2012 -- of the felony offense of unlawful possession of a controlled substance in St. Clair County.
