SIUE police have video evidence related to armed robbery

News-DemocratApril 8, 2014

Police have recovered a video from the automatic teller machine where a student was forced to withdraw cash as part of an armed robbery and kidnapping on the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville campus.

The surveillance images show part of the car suspects used to drive the male student to get cash before dumping him off on Lewis Road near Illinois 157, according to university spokesman Doug McIlhagga.

SIUE has declined a request for the picture saying, while they believe it is good enough to aid their investigation, it is of too poor quality to be reproduced.

"It's not something that people are going to look at and say 'Hey, I know that car,'" McIlhagga said. "But it could help police to identify the suspects."

The robbery and kidnapping started at 11:40 p.m. Saturday and the male victim, who was unhurt, was dropped off early Sunday.
