News-DemocratApril 8, 2014

Three free informational seminars have been planned in the metro-east to share information about grant money available for creating gardens in the community.

The meetings will be provided by Get Up & Go!, a program that promotes healthy living for St. Clair County residents. Each meeting will include master gardeners and other experts who will teach those interested about how to create a garden to provide fresh fruits and vegetables while encouraging residents to stay active and maintain the gardens.

The informational sessions will be held:

* 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Belleville Parks & Recreation Office at 510 W. Main St. in Belleville

* 6:30 p.m. Monday in the O'Fallon Public Safety Building at 285 N. Seven Hills Road in O'Fallon

* 6 p.m. April 16 in the Smithton Senior Center at 711 S. Main St. in Smithton
