GRANITE CITY — Three people were injured when school bus collided with another vehicle Tuesday afternoon at an intersection along Madison Avenue.
Granite City Police confirmed that a school bus carrying 34 children was southbound on Madison Avenue at 3:26 p.m. when a car pulled out in front of the bus at the intersection with 29th Street. The bus struck the car on the driver-side door, according to Granite City Police Major Jeff Connor.
The driver of the car, the bus driver and one student were transported to Gateway Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries, Connor said. No names were immediately released by police.
The driver of the car received a citation for failure to yield the right of way, Connor said.
Officials from Granite City District 9 schools could not be reached for comment.
