Handicapped-accessible ballfield dedication Thursday

News-DemocratApril 9, 2014

A special needs ballfield in Fairview Heights will be dedicated Thursday night.

The Miracle League ballfield was built last fall at Everett Moody Park on Longacre in Fairview Heights and has a rubberized surface with bases flush to the surface so those children with physical disabilities can play there.

The construction cost $350,000, of which none of the money used were from public funds. Construction of handicapped restrooms and a concession stand are also planned at the ballfield.

The dedication ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. at the ballfield, located off South Ruby Lane.
