Thin silver lining for Billy Ray

April 10, 2014

With regards to "Caregivers charged in man's death" published March 25, several questions come to mind after reading about this horrific tragedy.

Where were the friends and family members for the past eight years as Young was slowly starved to death? He didn't get down to 60 pounds overnight. I'm sure it was upsetting for him, also.

And were these "caregivers" being paid or receiving any benefits from the state or any agency to keep Billy Ray? If so, where is the oversight? Certainly they weren't doing this out of the goodness of their hearts, so there had to be monetary compensation somehow.

The only silver lining in all this, is that Billy Ray no longer suffers at the hands of these monsters. And then there's Karma.
