— Police have charged a suspect in a Belleville home invasion and robbery earlier this week.

Bradley C. Scarpi, 33, of Belleville has been charged with home invasion and armed robbery. He is accused of entering a home in the 800 block of South Jackson Street Tuesday morning, displaying a knife and demanding specific items from the two residents of the home.

The suspect removed unidentified items from the house and fled. The residents were not injured. However, police have said they were not chosen at random, but their home was targeted.

Detectives spotted Scarpi about noon Wednesday in the 200 block of East Main Street, and was taken into custody without incident, police said.

Scarpi is charged with one count of home invasion and one count of armed robbery, both Class X felonies. St. Clair County Circuit Judge Robert Haida set bail at $250,000. Scarpi has been arraigned, and currently remains in custody at the St. Clair County Jail.
