Child abduction ends with arrest in O'Fallon

April 10, 2014

BELLEVILLE - A domestic disturbance led to a child abduction and police intervention in Belleville and O'Fallon Thursday evening.

Capt. Don Sax with the Belleville Police Department confirmed that the man accused of taking the child had some kind of relationship with the mother, and apparently took the child after a domestic disturbance.

Police caught them near a Wal-mart in O'Fallon later Thursday evening, and O'Fallon Police assisted in recovering the child and taking the male subject into custody, Sax said.

"The child was returned to the mother unharmed," he said.

The man is being held for investigation, but was not identified pending charges. Further details were not immediately available from law enforcement.
