Belleville to hold public hearing on budget

The city of Belleville will hold a public hearing tonight on the proposed 2014-15 budget.

The hearing will take place at 6:45 p.m. in the Council Chambers of Belleville City Hall, 101 S. Illinois St.

The proposed budget includes a $27 million general fund budget.

The Finance Committee meeting will follow at 7 p.m. in the same location.

The agenda includes a request from Ward 5 Alderman Joe Hayden to discuss hiring more police officers and city officials giving an update on the new police station.
