Belleville men charged in armed mugging of woman

A pair of Belleville men have been charged in relation to the attack and robbery of a woman who was walking home from the store.

According to St. Clair County Sheriff's Department reports, the 44-year-old woman said she left the Moto Mart on Carlyle Avenue in rural Belleville at about 1 a.m. Wednesday when two men who she had noticed following her rushed up and punched her. While she was down, the men showed the victim a weapon and robbed her of cash.

The suspects were identified as Patrick J. Holmes Jr., 21, of 16 Impala Ct. and Clifton Robbins, 22, of 1606 Thunderbird Lane. They were each charged with two counts of armed robbery, Class X felonies, and taken to the St. Clair County Jail where they are being held on $75,000 bail each.
