There's a Christian song, "Were you there when they crucified my Lord?" Well, whether you and I know it or not we were there in a sense because Christ died for you and me.
Yes, we were there when they scourged him with metal barbed whips designed to rip the flesh and bones. We were there when they pressed thorns into his scalp. We were there when, under the weight of the cross, he fell three times. Yes, we were there when they nailed him to the tree.
And where are we today when he is insulted by the way we live, by our selfishness in killing our unborn children, by indulging in sinful behavior?
How can we turn our collective backs on him after what he did for us? And we call ourselves Christians.
