Police on Wednesday found a missing 11-year-old Belleville boy in safe condition in East St. Louis.

DeAngelo Lopez had been missing since Sunday.

"He appeared in good health and in good spirits," Belleville Police Detective Mark Heffernan said.

DeAngelo was last seen by his father, who has full custody of the boy, on Easter when he was sent to visit his mother, Coreen Lopez.

Lopez, 29, failed to return DeAngelo to his father later in the day at the planned end of the visit.

The East St. Louis Police Department found DeAngelo and his mother.

Heffernan said detectives are interviewing Lopez and police plan to present the case to the St. Clair County State's Attorney's Office.

Heffernan said police are still investigating but preliminary information indicates the boy was with his mom the entire time.

The Belleville Police Department issued a St. Louis Area Regional Abduction Alert late Tuesday night.
