This is in agreement with letter writers in the BND last Thursday.
With the beef prices on the rise and the cost of living increasing, why begrudge rancher Cliven Bundy in Nevada from grazing his cattle on desert land claimed by our government to be destructive? These creatures that inhabit this land have done so for many, many years. God put them all here, and they survived together and still do.
With the harsh, early winter in North and South Dakota where so many cattle died due to heavy snow and nothing to eat, the ranchers lost a lot of money and herds, which take a long time to rebuild. This rancher should be able to graze his cattle on his land. It's better than buying hay and still lose more money.
Government land has been used for grazing for many years. Why is it now, all of a sudden, illegal to graze on public land? I say let him do what he has been doing for so many years. It cannot hurt anything. The animals and creatures will get along as they have for a very long time. The cattle will not destroy anything. They need to eat, just like we do.
The government needs to stay out of this. Let the cattle and the rancher alone. Don't harass.
