All-night skate jam planned Friday in East St. Louis

News-DemocratApril 24, 2014

— Roller skaters from across the country will converge on East St. Louis for an annual all-night skate jam at Skate City on Friday.

The roller skating rink, located at 2200 East Broadway, is "expecting skaters from more than 20 different cities and states -- the homes of some of the best skaters in the world -- to East St. Louis to flash their skate wheels and show off their skill set on wheels," said Patricia Wise, co-owner of Skate City.

The skaters will show attendees why they are considered to be among the best in the world as they display their unique skating outfits and perform the latest skate moves, Wise said.

"From start to finish, local disc jockeys from the bi-state area will crank up the volume and set the tone for the night by providing a variety of music -- old school as well as new school," Wise said.

The skaters will compete for first, second and third place titles.

Skate City will provide a free buffet meal for all who attend, Wise said.

"You do not want to miss this event. I promise you it will be exciting and an event you won't soon forget. Anyone who comes out will see what we mean when we say Skate City is the place where the 'Good Times Roll,'" said Lawrence Wise, co-owner of Skate City.
