Three women charged with Social Security fraud

Three women have been charged with defrauding Social Security.

Lashonda Russell, 38, of Cahokia; Amber Dawn Adams, 33, of Fayetteville; and Tara Star Johndrow, 28, of Belleville were each charged with theft of government funds.

Russell is accused of receiving more than $50,000 in Social Security funds for a child who did not live with her and she did not support.

Adams is accused of receiving more than $9,000 in survivor benefits for a child who did not live with her and she did not support.

Johndrow is accused of receiving $14,500 by falsely claiming that she was not working.

Each woman faces up to 10 years in prison, fines up to $250,000 and up to three years of supervised release after incarceration.
