Mercury will top out at 90 this afternoon

Last week the high temperature in the metro-east was about 15 degrees below the average for this time of year. On Monday the high should easily surpass 15 degrees above average.

The high is expected to reach 90 under mostly sunny skies, according the National Weather Service. That's 17 degrees higher than the normal temperature, 73. The mercury could challenge the all-time high for this date, 93 set in 1952.

Skies will become partly cloudy overnight with a low of 57. On Tuesday it will be mostly sunny with a high of 85.

Tuesday night into Wednesday the low will be 61 under partly cloudy skies. During the day Wednesday skies will be mostly sunny with a high temperature of 86.
