Wood River man dies in motorcycle crash

A Wood River man died in a single-vehicle crash Sunday in Alton.

Dustin Aldridge, 27, of Wood River, lost control of his 2007 Suzuki GSX-600 about 1:06 p.m. on Illinois 140 near Stanley Road.

Aldridge was taken to Alton Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the emergency department. He was not wearing a helmet, and X-ray examination showed that he died of a fractured neck, according to the Madison County Coroner's Office.

The accident is under investigation by the Alton Police. Funeral arrangements are pending at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.
