Let's be fair to Fairmount Park

May 5, 2014

The Collinsville Chamber of Commerce has a new organization, Fairness for Fairmount. I believe an article and more public awareness about the removal of one race track from the bill to expand gaming in Illinois would be a great article.

We have three generations of horsemen, from my 92-year-old father-in-law to my son, who will soon be a veterinarian.

If the Casino Queen will be affected by our revenue stream, then the Queen should be closed for taking business from the original entertainment venue of Fairmount Park, which opened in 1925. It was the first track with lights and night racing, and is just on the verge of our 100-year anniversary.

Also, why is very bar or place that serves alcohol allowed video poker and not Fairmount Park?
