A Madison County man has been changed with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and driving with a revoked license after the sheriff's department got a complaint that he was driving recklessly.
The driving on a revoked license count is an enhanced felony charge because, according to Madison County court records, the suspect was previously convicted of driving on a revoked license in April 2011 and August 2012.
Jared C Nagel, 32, of 725 Madison Avenue in Wood River, was driving on Homer Adams Parkway in Godfrey Monday when the Madison County Sheriff's Department received a call alleging he was driving dangerously.
When he was located, Nagel was arrested for an outstanding warrant for driving under the influence. The deputy taking him into custody said he saw the suspect drop a vial from his hand to the ground. The vial allegedly contained cannabis.
The deputy then searched the suspect's car and allegedly found a hypodermic syringe that contained liquid methamphetamine and a small glass pipe. He also determined that Nagel's license was revoked.
Nagel was also charged with unlawful possession of cannabis and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. His bail was set at $35,000.
