Granite City man dies in second fatal motorcycle crash in 2 days

For the second time in two days, a man was killed in Granite City while riding a motorcycle. It's the third motorcycle-related death in the metro-east in the last week.

According to the Granite City Police Department, the accident happened at 2:43 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Oregon Avenue and Benton Street.

George Petchulat, 51, of the 2600 block of Center Street in Granite City, is believed to have lost control and hit a curb. He was taken to St. Louis University Hospital where he was pronounced dead about an hour later. Police said they have no reason to believe another vehicle was involved in the crash.

Jeffrey Pride, 44, of South Roxana, was killed in an early Wednesday accident at the intersection of Missouri Avenue and Konzen Court in Granite City.

The accident happened just after 6 a.m., according to police reports.

Police said Pride was traveling south on Missouri Avenue toward the intersection with Konzen Court, when he struck the tractor-trailer turning north from Konzen onto Missouri. Pride was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dustin Aldridge, 27, of Wood River, died in a motorcycle crash Monday on Illinois 140 in Alton.
