Lawsuit: Did Papa John's charge too much sales tax?

News-DemocratMay 9, 2014

A class action lawsuit filed in Madison County claims national pizza chain Papa John's was overcharging Illinois customers by collecting too much sales tax.

The lawsuit accused Papa John's stores in Illinois of charging sales tax on their delivery fee, which is not allowed under state law.

On a typical delivery fee of $2.39, according to the filing, a customer would be charged an additional 16 cents in the allegedly illegal tax.

Representatives of the pizza company have not responded to the allegations.
