Near record high Wednesday with possibility of rain

A 30 percent chance of thunderstorms is in the forecast Wednesday and the high temperature is expected to reach 90 degrees in the metro-east.

That's just three degrees shy of the all-time record high temperature for May 21 in the St. Louis area, 93, set in 1941.

Skies are expected to be mostly sunny in the early part of the day with the most likely chance of rain coming after 4 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. The chance of storms will increase to 40 percent overnight when the low drops to 66. There is a slight chance of severe weather including high winds and hail.

A 30 percent chance of thunderstorms is forecast for Thursday with the most likely chance of rain before 1 p.m. The high temperature will be 80.

A high temperature of 79 degrees is expected Friday with a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms.
