Illinois State Police will use a small plane, in addition to patrol cars, to catch speeders this holiday weekend.

A plane will fly along highways to coordinate with patrol cars to pull over speeders, said state police spokesman Trooper Calvin Dye Jr.

The Illinois Department of Transportation is paying for additional officers to target the "fatal four" -- distracted driving, speeding, and seat belt and alcohol violations -- during Memorial Day weekend, Dye said.
