Politics Notebook: Cook kicks off St. Clair County treasurer run

May 22, 2014

Rodger Cook, a candidate for St. Clair County treasurer, will have a fundraiser Saturday at St. Clair Bowl to kick off his campaign.

The event starts at 12:30 p.m. at 5950 Old Collinsville Road in Fairview Heights.

The fundraiser includes bowling and an open house in the upstairs lounge with food, door prizes and a 50/50 raffle.

The cost is $25. The event is free to participants age 30 and under.

Five people are allowed per team with a maximum of 40 teams.

Register in advance at www.electrodgercook.com or sign up at the bowling center.

Cook, a Republican, is seeking the four-year treasurer seat in the general election on Nov. 4. His opponent is incumbent Treasurer Charles Suarez, a Democrat who was first elected to the position in 1994.

Cook previously served as the mayor of Belleville from 1993 to 1997 and he unsuccessfully sought the 12th U.S. Congressional District seat in 2012.
