How and where: The safe way to dispose of expired, unwanted medicine

News-DemocratMay 26, 2014

Freeburg residents are encouraged to drop off unwanted drugs for safe disposal in a new pharmaceutical drop box.

Illinois American Water Co. and the village of Freeburg partnered for the drop box, which is located at the Freeburg Police Department, 14 Southgate Center. To reach the Freeburg Police Department for more information, call 618-539-3132.

Residents should drop off unwanted prescription medications so they can be incinerated, which is the Environmental Protection Agency's recommended approach to pharmaceutical disposal.
