BELLEVILLE — In the inaugural season for the Lindenwood University-Belleville men's track and field team, Christian Herring represented the Lynx thinclads at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Herring, a Belleville East graduate, is the first national qualifier in outdoor track and field in school history. This year's NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships was held in Gulf Shores, Ala., in Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium.
Herring took part in the 110 meter hurdles after qualifying 16th overall with a time of 14.90 seconds.
In the final meet of the regular season, the Lynx traveled north to compete at the Dr. Keeler Track and Field meet at North Central College. Serving as the final regular season meet for the Lynx, they picked up five top 10 finishes, including Robert Strong and Sam Voegtle finishing sixth place in their respected events.
Strong took home sixth place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.89, taking the top spot for the men's team.
Herring finished seventh in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.25 and Jordan Haynes took eighth in the shot put, recording a throw of 48- 1.25.
The 4x100 team of Jason Bliven, David Johnson, Strong, and Don Taylor Jr. took home eighth as well as they finished the race in just 42.42. Bliven also ran the 400 hurdles and finished 22nd with a time of 57.51.
Don Taylor Jr. competed in the 800 meter race and recorded a time of 2:01.68.
For the women, Voegtle led the way, finishing sixth for the Lynx in the shot put. Voegtle recorded a mark of 41' 9.25".
Nadja Fochtmann competed in the 400 meter dash and took home 26th after running a time of 1:02.86.
