YMCA presents annual awards to metro-east, St. Louis recipients

The UMCA of Southwest Illinois and the YMCA of Greater St. Louis announced award winners from their annual Lamplighter Society Dinner held May 22.

For the YMCA of Southwest Illinois, the 2014 Lamplighter awards were presented to William P. Gavin, who has been involved with the YMCA of Southwest Illinois since 1988, and Thomas J. Hartmann, who has been involved with the Y for more than three decades.

For the St. Louis Association, the J. Clinton Hawkins award was presented to Phil Roush, who has served in various leadership roles for the Kirkwood-Webster Family YMCA for more than 30 years. Also, the 2014 Dick Stoll "Spirit of Philanthropy" award was presented to Cesar Silva, who joined the YMCA of Greater St. Louis in 2002 and now serves as vice president of operations for the western district.

The YMCA of Greater St. Louis and the YMCA of Southwest Illinois have announced they are combining under one new Y association called the Gateway Region YMCA. The combination is expected to be finalized later this year.
