Road construction update: Illinois 158 roundabout nearly done

News-DemocratMay 29, 2014

The almost-done roundabout at Illinois 158/Centerville Road and South Belt in Belleville is tantalizingly close.

"There's a lot of little things to do between now and (being) done, and people need room to work," said project engineer Tom Borscht of the Illinois Department of Transportataion.

The concrete is still fresh where the roundabout will connect to westbound Illinois 15 and westbound South Belt West. Final striping, signs and seeds, as well as sections of fresh asphalt, also need to be applied.

Borscht expects the project to be complete by the Fourth of July holiday weekend, well ahead of the original contractor's deadline of November.
