Don't stop at welfare drug testing

May 29, 2014

State Rep. Dwight Kay, 112th District, who purports to represent all the people of Southwestern Illinois, has proposed a bill that would require prospective welfare recipients to be drug tested before receiving welfare benefits. And they are to be forced to pay for the drug testing.

I propose that Kay's bill be amended to include:

1) Mandatory drug testing of all drivers renewing their driver's licenses.

2) Mandatory drug testing, at the polls, of all Illinois residents attempting to vote.

3) Mandatory drug testing of all people applying for a concealed-carry permit for a handgun.

These amendments would greatly enhance Kay's noble effort to ensure the safety of Illinois taxpayers.
