Union United choir concert will preview tour of England

The Sanctuary Choir at Union United Methodist Church in Belleville will be on the move to England this month.

But before they go, the singers want you to hear what they will sing over there.

The concert is at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Union United, 721 East Main St. It will include music from Bach to Broadway, and will feature woodwinds: Bonnie Moncelli on oboe, Lisa MCoy on flute, Anna Sttipe on bassoon and Ethan Edwards on cello.

The Broadway section will include Richard and Patricia Hunsaker singing "Do You Love Me?" from "Fiddler on the Roof"; Calvin Guthrie singing "On the Street Where You Live" from "My Fair Lady"; Michael and Judy Woodruff singing "I Have Dreamed" fron "The King and I"; and a jazz rendition of "Blue Skies" sung by Alexandra Billhartz and Katherine Eckert, with Aaron Eckert on trombone.

An American sacred music section will include spirituals as well as a Shaker tune, "Ye Followers of the Lamb," and "Saints Bound for Glory" for four-hand piano, featuring accompanists Gail Long and Marcia Braswell.

The 29-voice choir, directed by Carole Eckert, will present concerts at Methodist and Anglican churches in the Lake District of England as well as in towns hear Bristol and North Devon. Members will stay with host families and will visit John Wesley heritae sites.

The Belleville concert is free; a free-will offering will be taken. A reception will follow the concert.
