East St. Louis man shot while fixing kids' bike

— An East St. Louis man was shot in the shoulder while fixing his children's bicycle tire.

The 28-year-old victim, Tremayne Taylor, said he was working on the bike when he heard shots ring out. One of the bullets struck him in the shoulder, he said.

Taylor said his children, ages 3 and 10, were standing nearby when he was hit.

The shooting occurred about 4 p.m. Sunday at the Norman E. Owens housing project in the 1000 block of Division Avenue.

Taylor was treated for his wounds and released at an area hospital.

Assistant Police Chief Ronald Ike said police are investigating the shooting but have no suspects or motive.
