For those people who are interested, the Secret Service is looking to buy software that will allow the government to collect and monitor everyone's social media data, Facebook posts, tweets, blog comments, etc., all in real time. They also want to be able to identify those people who are the "influencers" on the net and in social media.
One major requirement is for the software to be able to identify sarcasm. This is very important. If you post something sarcastic and the software works correctly, it will get ignored. If the software glitches, you will get a knock on the door.
Their intent, of course, is to make us safe from those who wish to do us and the Constitution harm. In the process they will just trample on the Constitution and our rights, all for our protection, of course. It is a lot like the old Vietnam catch phrase: "In order to save the village we had to burn it."
In an effort to help out the software engineers working on this project, I'd like to point out that the last line was sarcasm.
