Lots of rain, cool temperatures this week

More than two inches of rain could fall in the metro-east over the next three days, according to the National Weather Service.

Wet weather is likely Monday with a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms during the daytime hours, followed by an 80 percent chance Monday evening.

Skies are expected to be mostly cloudy throughout the day with the most likely time for storms coming after 3 p.m. During the evening storms are expected to start after 7 p.m. and last into Tuesday morning.

The high Monday will be 75 degrees with an overnight low of 64.

There is an 80 percent chance of scattered showers Tuesday when the high will stall at 70, about 14 degrees below the average high temperature for the date in the St. Louis area, according to the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration. The low Tuesday evening will be 63, with a 50 percent chance of showers.

On Wednesday, the high is expected to reach 75 with a 40 percent chance of showers.
