The rodeo tradition goes on

June 9, 2014

This letter is in response to the letter about the Optimist Rodeo.

First, I want to commend and thank the Optimist Club for the great job that it has done putting on a family-friendly and fun weekend rodeo. I did not want to see the rodeo disappear from the area, therefore Western Junction and the Mascoutah Improvement Association have joined forces to attempt to continue the rodeo tradition.

We will be holding the Mascoutah Rodeo on June 20 and 21 at 7 p.m. both nights in Scheve Park, Mascoutah. We have double-sanctioned the event, International Professional Rodeo Association and Missouri Rodeo & Cowboy Association, to try to have more entries, added two extra events, and will have country bands each night after the rodeo for people's listening pleasure.

As always, there will be plenty of food and refreshments. The Mascoutah Improvement Association has added handicapped accessible bleachers, regular bleacher and there will be plenty of room on the bank for lawn chairs and blankets.
