A Fairfield Community High School teacher and coach was charged Tuesday with videotaping girls in the bathroom of a Fairview Heights motel last year.
Timothy C. Going, 43, of 307 S.E. Sixth St. in Fairfield, faces misdemeanor and felony charges of unauthorized videotaping.
Going also faces charges in Wayne County, where he is accused of placing a video camera in the girls' locker room. A janitor discovered the video equipment and notified authorities.
Going was a high school math teacher and track and cross-country coach until earlier this month when he was charged in Wayne County. Going was suspended after the charges.
Neither Going nor his attorney Scott Quinn of Mount Vernon could be reached for comment Tuesday.
"We have been working together with the Wayne County State's attorney on this investigation," St. Clair County State's Attorney Brendan Kelly said Tuesday. He declined to comment further.
Going placed video cameras in the bathroom of the Super 8 motel on Ludwig Drive in Fairview Heights and recorded 15-, 16- and 18-year-old girls in November, according to the charges.
Bail for Going in the St. Clair County case was set at $250,000.
Going, who earns $42,000 a year, has worked at Fairfield Community High School since 2011. He taught algebra and geometry. He also serves as a logistics officer with the Illinois National Guard.
